Surgery

Veterinary surgery is a cutting-edge discipline of veterinary medicine.

Dr Trambelland is trained in emergency surgery (scaling, sterilization, etc.) but also in soft tissue surgery (skin, digestive, thoracic surgery, etc.) and more specifically in orthopedic surgery.

Our clinic is equipped with a perfectly equipped operating room to ensure good care for your animal in complete safety.

Our team regularly undergoes training in order to provide the best care and practice the best surgical techniques.

Pre-operative consultation

Before any surgical intervention, a pre-operative consultation is offered to your pet (dog, cat or NAC).

The objective of this consultation is to establish the state of health of your animal in order to estimate the anesthetic risks. Indeed, possible health problems (overweight, hypertension, heart murmur for example) of your companion will influence the choice of anesthetic medications.

If necessary, we offer additional examinations such as a blood test, cardiac ultrasound, etc.

During this consultation, you receive all the necessary information concerning the progress, the cost of the veterinary surgery intervention and the possible risks.

We are here to explain the steps to you but also to reassure you, please do not hesitate to ask us any questions.

How does the surgical day go?

Your animal is welcomed, on the day of the procedure, in the morning generally around 8 a.m., by the veterinary team, entry the evening before is also possible. He must be fasting, that is to say, his food must be taken away the evening before (between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.). Only NACs do not need to fast.

Scheduled interventions are carried out in the morning and have a variable duration depending on the type of surgery (sterilization, orthopedic surgery, soft tissue surgery, etc.).

If your animal needs emergency surgical care, do not hesitate to contact us so that we can guide you in the best possible way. Urgent surgeries can be performed, such as cesarean sections, certain everyday accidents or accidents on public roads. Surgical emergencies are in fact not rare and our team will do everything possible to practice first aid and intervene in an emergency.

After the operation, the anesthetic awakening takes place under the supervision of a veterinary nurse and your animal receives post-operative care with pain management.

Once fully awake, his exit is then scheduled for the end of the day unless the surgery performed is more serious and requires several days of intensive veterinary care.

A post-operative check is carried out between 12-15 days and can also be carried out via teleconsultation.

Preventive surgery

  • Spaying/neutering: This is one of the most common surgical procedures and is performed daily in veterinary clinics.

It makes it possible to reduce the incidence of certain pathologies (breast tumors, prostatitis, etc.) and also to limit the undesirable behavior of our companions (urinary marking, running away, meowing), as well as fights and injuries between conspecifics with associated diseases (Fiv/Felv in cats for example).

Soft tissue surgery

  • Digestive: stomach torsion, gastrotomy, enterotomies, enterectomies, etc.

  • Hepatobiliary system: cholecystectomy, cholecystoduodenotomy, extra/intrahepatic shunt, etc.

  • Urinary: cystotomy, urethrostomy, nephrectomy, etc.

  • ENT surgeries: brachycephalic breed syndrome, removal of the ear canal, etc.

  • Skin and reconstructive surgeries: skin tumors, skin flaps or grafts, etc.

  • Thoracic

  • Ophthalmological

Orthopedic surgery

Orthopedic surgeries are carried out by a traveling veterinarian who comes to the office.

If support is not quick enough, we will direct you to the center best suited to your situation.

The types of surgical interventions relating to orthopedics are:

  • Treatment of fractures (simple and complicated).
  • Treatment of cruciate ligament rupture.
  • Patella instability problems.
  • Angular corrections.
  • Management of elbow dysplasia or hip dysplasia.
